Visiting our Camp Manager Anja on Rügen

23. Aug 2026 — Reading Time: 4 minutes

When the first guests head towards the beach with a coffee in hand and the campsite slowly comes to life in the morning, Anja has usually already been out and about for a while. Welcoming guests, handing out treats to our four-legged campers, and always ready with a tip on the best place to watch the sunset that evening.

Why Anja loves working at a Campsite?

For her, it all starts with the campsite itself. Handpicked, surrounded by nature, and intentionally left just as they are. Places that make you want to stay a little longer.

For Anja, that’s exactly what makes the perfect workplace: working in a place where others come to take a break.

Natural, unspoilt pitches on Rügen.

If in doubt, you’ll find Anja here: in the clubhouse.

What many People don't know about her

It probably comes as no surprise that Anja loves spending time outdoors. But if you only know her from the campsite, you might not know that alongside her work at Wildwood, she founded the “Bauernhof statt Altenheim” association on Rügen. Together with the organisation, she is developing a nature-based approach to ageing with dignity and joy.

For us, this project says a lot about Anja: about her love of nature, her openness, and her desire to create places where people feel at home.

If you’re interested, feel free to take a look at the project.

Daily walks around the campsite are part of Anja’s routine.

The Camp Manager's Insider Tip for Rügen

When asked for her personal insider tip for Rügen, Anja doesn’t have to think twice. For her, the perfect day starts with sunrise at the beach and ends with the sun setting behind the forest over the Schoritzer Wiek.

And the fact that you can experience both in a single day? “That’s the advantage of being on a peninsula,” she says with a wink.

A Wildwood Moment, she'll never forget

It’s encounters like these that stay with Anja. A young couple met a dog at our campsite in the Harz who was still living with a foster family at the time. It was love at first sight. A few months later, the dog had become part of their family, and their first holiday together brought the three of them to us on Rügen.

“A true Wildwood dog love story,” Anja says. And for us, it’s a goosebumps moment.

A special moment of the day: watching the sun set over the Schoritzer Wiek on Rügen.

Anja's favourite Spot at the Campsite

Even camp managers sometimes need a moment to take a breather. For Anja, pitch C27 is the perfect place to do just that. Tucked away in a quiet spot with views of the sea, it’s just the right place when things get busy around the campsite. A quick look out over the water, a deep breath of fresh air, and then it’s back to the guests with renewed energy.

What does Camping mean to her?

For Anja, camping isn’t primarily about caravans, tents, or pitches. It’s about that feeling of reconnecting with the rhythm of nature. Waking up to birdsong, enjoying the first rays of sunshine, taking things as they come, and simply looking out over the water. That’s it.

The first stop for tips, questions, and a warm welcome.

Maybe you'll cross Paths

If you meet Anja during your next stay at the campsite, feel free to say hello. Especially if you have a four-legged companion with you. There’s a good chance she’ll have a treat in her pocket waiting for your furry friend.
