The Harz combines untouched nature with fascinating history – our nature campsite is the perfect starting point to experience both. Nestled in wild and romantic landscapes, you'll find peace, relaxation, and inspiration here.

The campsite (formerly Waldweben), established in 1957, was modernized by us in the winter of 2024 with a sustainable approach. Here, you'll find a place to linger and fully enjoy the beauty of nature in the Harz – all without having to forgo the modern comforts you're accustomed to from Wildwood.

Pitch

All our pitches are surrounded by beautiful nature, very quiet, and located on natural ground. Choose from three different sizes (small, medium, large) when booking. The price includes two people. You can select your preferred pitch when making your reservation.

Cabin

For those who do not own a motorhome or tent, our cozy cabins are perfect. The cabins are each equipped with two single beds and a table with chairs. The cabins do not have their own kitchen or bathroom, but the washhouse and BBQ area are not far away. You can conveniently park your car next to the cabin.

The Area

The Upper Harz is a natural refuge that instantly captivates you with its beauty and vastness. More than 30 mountain lakes are scattered across the region – many of them perfect for swimming, cooling off after a hike, or simply pausing to take in the stillness by the water.

Just a 30-minute walk away, you’ll find the Spiegeltal waterfall – a true natural highlight not to be missed. The area is also rich in history: Clausthal-Zellerfeld, an old mining town with traditional timber-framed houses, still tells the story of the region’s heritage today.

The Harz National Park is not far away, a paradise for hikers, cyclists, and nature lovers. Here you can explore dense forests, crystal-clear streams, and untouched mountain landscapes – and with a bit of luck, even spot wildlife such as wildcats, lynx, or black storks. If you look closely, you’ll also discover traces of the past everywhere: the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Harz Water Management System still bears witness to the region’s long mining tradition.

The Harz is pure nature – wild, unspoiled, and full of surprises. A little bit like Canada, only just around the corner.

Activities

Whether you want to lose yourself on a hike through the deep forests of the Harz, explore the region on a mountain bike (which you can rent directly from us), or simply enjoy the tranquility of one of the many mountain lakes – the possibilities are almost endless. Right next to our campsite lies the Wasserläufer pond, inviting you to take a refreshing dip.

Even on rainy days, there’s plenty to discover – from historical sights like the Oberharz Mining Museum to the Iberg dripstone cave. And in winter, the region transforms into a true winter wonderland – perfect for cross-country skiing, snowshoe hikes, or simply a walk through the snowy landscape.

There’s also plenty to enjoy right here at our site. You’ll find barbecue areas, a camper kitchen, and even a pizza oven you can rent. Everything you need is available in our shop: fresh groceries, drinks, bread rolls, coffee, ice cream, meat and campfire bread, as well as vegetarian and vegan alternatives. And of course, all the little essentials you might forget when packing for a camping trip.

For children, the Robinson playground just five minutes from the site is a real highlight. There’s also a riding stable nearby for horse lovers. And every Thursday from spring through autumn, a lively farmers’ market takes place in Clausthal-Zellerfeld – the perfect place to discover regional products.

The culinary scene here has much to offer as well: in Clausthal-Zellerfeld you’ll find the Indian restaurant Aroma and the cozy Zum Harzer, where you can enjoy traditional German cuisine.
