Breathe in the crisp winter air, wander through snow covered forests and put your feet up by the fire in the evening. Winter in the Harz has a magic of its own. Whether you are spending Christmas or New Year’s with us, heading out to hike or sled, or simply looking for a few peaceful days in nature, here you will find our favourite winter tips around the camp.
Christmas Market and Christmas Forest in Goslar
From November 26 to December 30, the old town of Goslar transforms into a true winter wonderland. The Christmas market is considered one of the most beautiful in Germany, and right in the middle you will find a small forest of real fir trees, fairy lights and mulled wine stalls. More than seventy stands offer local crafts, delicious treats and plenty of gift ideas. There is also lots to discover for children with a mini train, carousel and Christmas workshop.
Goslar is about a 25 minute drive from the camp.
Weihnachtsschicht” at the Oberharz Mining Museum
November 29 and 30, 2025
On the first Advent weekend, the Oberharz Mining Museum in Clausthal Zellerfeld invites visitors to a very special Christmas event – both above and below ground. Festive lights, historical mining buildings and guided tours through the illuminated show mine create an unforgettable atmosphere.
Over two hundred lights highlight the old tunnels and mining structures, and a varied programme with music, crafts and winter activities makes this weekend a unique experience for families and anyone curious about Harz history.
Christmas at the Rammelsberg
December 13 and 14, 2025
On the third Advent weekend, the UNESCO World Heritage Rammelsberg Mine opens its doors for an extraordinary Christmas market – again, both above and below ground. Between historic tunnels, soft lights and traditional crafts, this event blends mining history with the magic of the Christmas season.
A wonderful tip for anyone looking for something truly special beyond the classic Christmas markets.
Sledding right by the camp
The sledding hill in Zellerfeld is located just next to the camp. Walk up the road and you are ready for some snowy fun. It is the perfect way to spend an afternoon in the snow, and not only the children will love it.
You can rent sleds directly from us.
Snowshoe hiking in Hahnenklee
If you feel like trying something new, how about a snowshoe hike. In Hahnenklee there is a marked trail for snowshoeing, about two kilometers long and suitable for all ages. You can rent the right equipment at the Seasons ski rental in the village. It is a great day trip for families or simply a peaceful alternative to a regular winter walk.

New Year’s Eve in the Harz without fireworks
The Harz is perfect if you prefer to welcome the new year in a quiet way. In many towns, including Goslar, Wernigerode and the entire national park, fireworks are not allowed. Nature, the half timbered towns and especially your dogs will thank you.
New Year’s Eve with your dog in the Harz is wonderfully relaxed and truly peaceful. No loud fireworks, just sparkling lights, clear air and time outdoors. Our tip: bring a few sparklers and celebrate the new year with your favorite people and animals.
Get cozy in the Clubhouse
After a day outside with red cheeks and cold toes, our cozy Clubhouse is waiting for you. Light the fire, take off your shoes and put your feet up. It is the perfect place to read, play, talk or simply unwind.
During winter we offer a cheese fondue set for your very own cabin feeling. Everything you need can be found in our shop, along with hot mulled wine from our friends at Weinladen St. Pauli.
The Clubhouse is open daily from 8 am to 8 pm.
